In 2012, SILA was asked to propose a solution to maintain a few of Alok Industries’ manufacturing units in Silvassa. Focus was to implement an efficient solution and upgrade the maintenance levels at their factories. After SILA’s success case at Alok Industries, we have grown to service other companies in the Textile Industry across Gujarat, Maharashtra & Karnataka – Bhilosa Industries, The Creative Group, Sanathan Textiles, Color Lines to name a few.
Based on our learnings & experience, we have listed the five most important points to keep in mind when maintaining Textile Factories.
1. Use the Right Machines, Equipment, Chemicals
Most textile facilities that we come across use local detergents such as phenyl, washing powders, household brooms to clean their Factories. Times have changed drastically. Using high grade chemicals with the technology & machines has allowed us to make the maintenance process more efficient, reducing the dependence on Labor.
2. Tailored Processes
After experimenting with different processes, maintenance techniques, chemicals & equipment, we arrived at a set of best-practices that are required to maintain Textile plants. For example, our processes for Cotton units are very different than Polyester Manufacturing Units. It is imperative to implement an efficient cleaning & maintenance process.

SMAAASH is a new sports-centric immersive and interactive entertainment hub in the heart of the City Mumbai. It is spread over 40000 square feet, offering a mix of active and passive entertainment, innovative games, interactive sports and socializing and eating areas. They also have 8 cricket nets spread over 2 floors, an F1 simulator and a soccer stadium to showcase the football skills. In addition to this, they also have an outlet for bowling, communicating and parties held as well.

SILA started servicing SMAAASH, located at Kamala Mills on April 1, 2013 with a team of 22 janitors headed by 2 supervisors and a team leader. A milestone is a hard and fast due date that represents a major accomplishment during the course of the project that is being managed. On a busy Wednesday afternoon, it was an atmosphere with a comfortable blend of discipline and enthusiasm, the kind healthy diversity introduces to a workplace. The office seats industry veterans from our facility management and project management businesses, in addition to young graduates working with Mr. Homecare and Hammer and Mop (our home services divisions). This allows a breath of fresh air.
The pantry at SILA‘s Mumbai headquarters was empty, that afternoon, and all assistants were out tending to the folks having lunch. One of the senior executives walked in to grab a quick coffee when the shrill ring of the phone shattered the silence.
